Question: What are the valid characters for a domain name

(answer) The only valid characters for a domain name are letters, numbers and a hyphen "-".

Other special characters like the underscore "_" or an exclamation mark "!" are NOT permitted.

Question: How long can a domain be?

(answer) A domain name can be up to 26 characters long -- including the 4 characters used to identify the Top Level Domain (.NET, .COM, .ORG, .EDU or .GOV).

Question: Is "http://www" part of the domain name?

(answer) http://www.example.com is a uniform resource locator (URL) used by WWW browsers to find documents and resources on the World Wide Web. It IS NOT a domain name (though a domain name is necessarily part of a URL).

Domain Name

If you would like your Website to be accessible as www.yourcompany.com, the domain name yourcompany.com must be unique and registered with InterNIC, the organization that controls domain names. We can research your choices of domain names for availability, and register your domain name. InterNIC will then invoice you $70.00 for the first 2 years ownership of that name, and subsequently invoice you $35.00 per year for continued ownership.

When your domain name is registered, we will set up five email aliases of your choice, such as info@yourcompany.com and sales@yourcompany.comand direct them to the email address of your choice. Additional e-mail addresses are available for $5/each one-time setup.

Website Hosting

Kale has several rate schedules for web page hosting. Level 1 (Standard) is designed for small sites, typically 6 pages or less, Level 2 (Domain1) is for larger websites or those that require frequent updates, Level 3 (Domain 2) is for larger websites or those that require frequent updates along with online order forms and full ftp access. Level 4 (Secure Server) is for larger websites or those that require frequent updates along with online order forms/data base systems, ftp access and secure transaction server.

• FREE registration for your site in 12 of the most popular Internet search engines, ensuring
  that customers will find your site.

• A FREE listing for your business in our Worldwide P. I. Network ($20/year value).

Rates:

• $20/month for up to 6 pages*
• $5/month for each additional page (up to 10 pages)
• No Set up Fees

A "page" is the amount of material that would normally fit on an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. Kale has the final say on what constitutes a "page."

Advance payment of 6 months receives a 10% discount.
Advance payment of 12 months receives one month hosting free.

• One-time $100 site setup fee
• One-time $100 domain name setup fee (waived if you already have a domain name in use at Kale) $100/month for up to 5O meg of disk space and 1 gig/month data transfer. Additional data transfer is billable at $.05/meg
• Additional units of 5 meg are available at $25/month and include an extra 1/2 gig/month of data transfer

Level 4: Domain 3 Secure Website

This plan includes the following services:

• FREE consultation

• Web page hosting on our server

• FTP access to the webserver so that you can update your pages as often as you would like

• Statistics available 24 hours/day on how many times each of your pages has been accessed

• FREE registration for your site in 200 of the most popular Internet search engines, ensuring that customers will find your site

• A FREE listing for your business in our Worldwide P. I. Network ($20/year value)

• Exposure in Kale print advertising, seminars, computer shows, direct mail pieces, etc.

Rates:

• One-time $250 site setup fee
• One-time $100 domain name setup fee (waived if you already have a domain name in use at Kale) $150/month for up to 75 meg of disk space and 1 gig/month data transfer. Additional data transfer is billable at $.05/meg
• Additional units of 5 meg are available at $25/month and include an extra 1/2 gig/month of data transfer
  

This rate is only available on a 12- month, prepaid basis.

Kale reserves the right to change rates with 30 days notice, and to refuse any material for hosting that we deem objectionable.
